A parent sets up the family

The child's name, who plays along (Mommy, Daddy, Grandma or anyone else) and which pets live with you.
Your child creates a character

Hairstyle, hair colour, eyes, glasses, freckles. A guinea pig can become a kitten, a fox or a hedgehog.
The tales and games are about you

In the stories, in the kitchen and at the doctor's, they are the heroes. Your child solves the little tasks in the tales.

Seven illustrated tales with little tasks and a quiz. When they run out, your child makes up a new one.

Settings and the purchase sit behind a times-table question a small child can't answer.

What parents ask

What age is it for?

For children from about 3 to 6. Everything is read aloud and controlled with big buttons, so they don't need to read or write.

Does it need an internet connection?

No. The tales, games and sounds are part of the app. You don't need a connection even the first time.

Which devices will it run on?

iPhone and iPad, and Android phones and tablets. On a phone it is played sideways; hold a tablet any way you like.

Which languages does it speak?

English, French, Spanish and Czech. It follows the device's language, and parents can change it in the parents' settings. In English the stories are read by the device's own voice; for a nicer one, download an enhanced voice in the device settings.

How much does it cost?

Part of the tales and games is free. The rest unlocks with a single one-time purchase: no subscription, no ads, nothing else to buy.

When and where can I get it?

The cottage is on its way to the App Store and Google Play. Right now we are trying it out with the first families.

Fairytale Cottage is an app for young children. We collect no personal data.

The app works offline and sends nothing to any server.
It has no ads, analytics or tracking.
The iPhone and iPad app offers a single one-time purchase (The Whole Cottage), behind a grown-up question. Apple (the App Store) handles the payment; we receive no payment or personal data. The app only asks the App Store whether the purchase was made.
The child's name, character looks, drawings, salon photos and stars are stored only on the device (in the app's storage). They are deleted when the app is uninstalled or with Start over in the parents' settings.
Narration uses voice recordings shipped with the app and the device's speech engine; no text leaves the device.
A drawing is saved or shared only when the user asks, through the device's own share sheet.
The parents' settings are protected by a question a young child can't answer.
